Today we setup computers and made sure that each and everyone is working. I would like to thank Faisal Nasim, Raza Abbas, Fahad Majeed and Usman for helping us in setting up the computers. Teams with senior most students are selected. First all BE teams are selected and then empty slots were given to TE and then SE. Teams with less then 3 members were rejected. The criteria was the same for both departments. INETA Pakistan and Code Run Team is not liable to give answers regarding selection criteria.

The contest date has been resheduled and it will going to happen on Saturday, June 04, 2005 at CIS Computational Lab. The list of approved teams will be displayed on this blog on Tuesday, May 24, 2005. All the approved teams will be notified through email about the latest news and contest guidelines.

More Details On Code Run 2005

This contest is only for students of NED University of Engineering and Technology.
All the registered teams should show up on time at the labs. Timings and venue will be announced later.
Reference books are allowed. Books on syntax and Algorithms can be referred during the contest.
You are advised to focus on solving the problem correctly rather then on code clarity, neatness and variable conventions etc, which indeed have no points at all.
You should have strong concepts of using arraylist in C# and vector container in C++. You can use standard library instead of making linked lists for yourself for questions which involve dynamic arrays.
You should be running for your code coz time is ticking!!! There will be a panelty for every minute that passes so you should need to solve the problems as quickly as you can.
Team end up in solving the most questions will be the winner, no penaly if the no of questions solved is higher.

How To Register

In order to participate in the Code Run 2005 Speed Programming Contest you have to take the Participation Form from our organizing team, fill it out and return it back to them. Because of the limited capacity in our labs, only 16 Teams are allowed to take part. Incase of large no of registrations, INETA Pakistan will select the Teams with most senior students. Contest is on May 28, 2005 at CIS Labs. Last date of registration is May 21, 2005.

Contest Rules and Regulations

Flash drives, floppies or any other storage medium are not allowed to bring in the contest.
Internet connection will be disabled.
Printed or handwritten notes or lectures are not allowed.
Cell phones should be switched off completely.
We have the right to eliminate any team during the contest if they are found to be violating any of the above stated rules.

Sample Problem

Description:

You are given a limited number of coins of various denominations, and a certain amount. You are to compute how many ways there are to pick the coins to add up to that amount. For example, given 12 coins of 1-cent value, 2 coins of 5-cent value and 3 coins of 10-cent value, and an amount of 15 cents, there are 4 combinations:

2 5-cents coins and 5 1-cent coins
1 5-cents coins and 10 1-cent coins
1 10-cent coins and 1 5-cent coin
1 10-cent coins and 5 1-cents coins

The answer therefore should be 4.

Input:

The first line of the input file consists of a single positive integer indicating the number of different coin denominations. The next line of the input file consists of a single positive integer representing the total amount. The remaining lines of the input file each consist of a pair of positive integer representing a coin denomination followed by the number of coins of that denomination available. All numbers are in the range of [1, 100].

The sample input and output are shown below.

About Code Run 2005

Code Run 2005 is the Speed Programming and Quiz competition for students of NED University, organized by INETA Pakistan, NED.net User Group and IEEE NED Student Branch. The event is scheduled to happen on May 28, 2005. This event is a part of Pro Cup which is a Hardware and Software competition for NED Students which is scheduled with IEEE SCONEST 2005.

Date : May 28, 2005
Venue : NED University.

Details:

Participation is accepted in the form of a team. A team can be of maximum of three students. Participants should consider the following programming languages for this contest:

C/C++ (Turbo C++ / Borland C++)
Visual C++
Java
C#

How To Participate:

Collect forms from INETA Pakistan student representatives of your department.
Sumbit completed form back to them.
Wait for INETA Pakistan approval.
